Increase sleep comfort and thermal resistance
Interelectronix offers two microglass thicknesses for both resistive and capacitive technology:
- 0.1 mm
- 0.2 mm
While the standard thickness of 0.1 mm is ideal for normal applications, a glass thickness of 0.2 mm is particularly recommended if increased forces are to be expected or special requirements are placed on thermal resistance.
0.2 mm micro glass thickness for GFG
The use of microglass with a glass thickness of 0.2 mm makes a resistive GFG touchscreen considerably more robust. It should be noted, however, that at the same time the activation force necessary to trigger an impulse increases with thicker glass.
This may well be desirable in individual cases if the touch control must not react too sensitively to a non-specific pressure, but should first respond to a deliberately stronger pressure with the finger or another object.
0.2 mm micro glass thickness for PCAP
Our PCAP touchscreens show no change in the functionality when using 0.2 mm microglass. The usual good and smooth multi-touch operation of our PCAP touchscreens as well as the precise touch recognition work perfectly even with twice the glass thickness.
However, we do not recommend using even thicker microglasses to increase resistance in order not to restrict usability. If special resistance is required, we recommend extra chemically hardened surfaces or the use of laminated glass.
